Irish dancing classes

We offer classes for Irish dancers of all ages and experience. Whether you're dancing to have fun, to keep fit or to compete, our small class sizes allow our teachers to nurture the progress of every dancer individually.

Throughout the year, dancers have the choice to compete in State and National Championships as well as local competitions. However, for those not interested in competing, classes still offer a great way to build confidence, focus, fitness, strength, and friendships in a fun and supportive environment and our annual Hall School Christmas Feis gives all of our dancers the opportunity to show family and friends what they have achieved throughout the year in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Weekly classes for our beginner, intermediate, advanced and adult dancers are held on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. For our younger dancers, the Jump'n'Jig classes are held every Saturday morning. Private classes can also be booked on a weekly basis.

Beginner classes offer an introduction to Irish dance for school aged children, 5 years and up, who are just beginning Irish dancing for the first time. Beginner dancers will start learning the basic steps and progress to learning soft shoe dances such as reels and jigs. As their skills and confidence continue to develop, beginner dancers will then start to learn hard shoe dances.

Our intermediate and advanced classes are ideal for dancers looking for more of a challenge. Students will build on what they learnt as beginners, learning faster, more difficult and intricate footwork at a higher standard for both soft shoe and hard shoe dances.

Dancers who have an interest in taking exams and participating in competitions will be able to use class time to prepare and have the opportunity to perform at community events.

Intermediate and advanced classes run for 60 to 120 minutes with the option to have additional private lessons.

Frequently Asked questions

How do I know which class I am best suited to?

Get in contact with us using the form below and we can help determine the best class for you or your child.

I know which class I want to join, how can I book my trial class?

Great! Send us a message to let us know which class you are interesting in joining and we will set up your trial class.

How many people are in a class?

We want to make sure each of our dancers gets 1 on 1 time with our teachers, so although class sizes can vary we don't have more than 10 dancers per class.

What do I wear to class?

Wear comfortable clothing that doesn't restrict your movement. Shorts or leggings and a t-shirt is best. Don't forget to pack your drink bottle!

How much do classes cost?

Classes are paid for per term. As these vary in length, you can contact us for the pricing of the upcoming term.

When can I start?

Whenever you are ready! Send us a message below so we can get you set up for your first class!

Do I have to compete in competitions if I take the classes?

Competitions are not compulsory. We work with each individual dancer according to their own preferences and goals.
